Jessica, breast cancer survivor

Jessica with her son.

Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada is a longtime and proud supporter of Coaches vs. Cancer. The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities and organizations like ours to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

This year, our support of Coaches vs. Cancer continued December 9 at MGM Grand Garden Arena where the UNLV Rebels men’s basketball team will take on the University of Illinois. As part of our involvement in the game, we had the opportunity to honor a former patient who inspires us, and who we feel will inspire others. This year’s honoree was Jessica Gaylor, a breast cancer survivor. Jessica is a theater teacher who, through sharing her story, has made a wonderful impact on the lives of her students, as well as other patients. Jessica sang the national anthem with her students and was recognized at halftime of the game, along with other survivors and Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada physicians.

You can learn more about Jessica’s story through this video:

Jessica’s doctors, Rupesh J. Parikh, M.D. and Matthew W. Schwartz, M.D., and entire team at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, greatly appreciates her taking time to share her story.
