This holiday season, 27 interior design firms are inviting guests to a glamorous experience for a worthy cause. Holiday House Design Show was founded by interior designer Iris Dankner in 2008 to raise money for breast cancer research. Dankner is a 16-year breast cancer survivor who made raising money and awareness for cancer her personal mission. Combining Dankner’s two life passions – interior design and helping women in need – Holiday House is New York City’s first designer show house to benefit a breast cancer organization, and it has quickly become one of the city’s most stylish holiday traditions.

The Holiday House is held each holiday season in the Academy Mansion, a historic mansion in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. A select group of top interior designers in the New York City area are invited to showcase their designs by coordinating a room in the mansion. The event’s first year in 2008 proved to be a huge success and all proceeds were donated to help fund breast cancer research.
The design firms use their own funds as well as donated products from celebrated companies like Tiffany & Co., Fendi Casa, Baccarat, and Sleep Studio, to create their rooms. Since its first successful show, Holiday House has featured items from the industry’s top interior designers, received endorsements from some of the most popular global luxury brands, gained critical acclaim, and now has a summer show house in the Hamptons.
Ultimately, Holiday House’s mission is to celebrate life. Its designers select a holiday or special time in life, and use it to inspire their creations. Supporting a great cause has never looked so fashionable. This year’s holiday house i open to the public until December 18th.
