Medically Integrated Dispensing

Your medication needs are unique, where you fill them should be, too.

Comprehensive Cancer Centers has a new MID program to better serve your prescription needs. The specialty medication dispensing program is staffed with Advanced Practice Providers and Certified Pharmacy Technicians who have expertise in oncology medications, as well as resources to help expedite and manage your oral medications.

Our Services Available to You:

The following outlines services provided by Comprehensive’s MID program, as well as benefits to patients using the service:

  • Insurance authorizations – Typically required for oncology medications. Handled in-house, working directly with your provider, speeds up your approval time.
  • Foundation grants or copay assistance – We will research available funding to reduce your out-of-pocket costs where needed.
  • No sitting at home waiting for mail order pharmacy deliveries – You will be contacted as soon as your medication arrives in the clinic and is ready for pickup.
  • Direct access to a dedicated provider – Medication questions and guidance available quickly and easily.
  • Coordinated refills – We will follow up with you during treatment and make sure refills are ready when needed.

THIS IS AN OFFERED SERVICE FOR COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTERS PATIENTS – YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO UTILIZE THIS SERVICE. If we are unable to fill your medications due to insurance restrictions, we will work with your insurance company to find the contracted pharmacy – you may also opt out at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with a new prescription?

  • Your physicians will send your prescription to the MID electronically, or to an outside pharmacy at your request. (Please note: Oncolytic medications are rarely available at standard retail pharmacies)
  • If your medication is not available through our MID, we will electronically send your prescription to a retail or specialty pharmacy as indicated.

What medications can be filled through the MID?

  • Specialty oncology medications, including many limited distribution medications that are only available at select pharmacies.
  • Where available we may also provide supportive medications to treat potential side effects
  • Please note, we DO NOT dispense pain medications. These will need to be provided via your chosen pharmacy.

What can I expect after the MID receives my new prescription?

  • An MID pharmacy technician will contact you within 24 hours of receiving your prescription.
  • Your insurance company may require prior authorization to determine the medication prescribed is appropriate for you and your diagnosis. Prior authorizations may require 1 to 5 business days to process.
  • Financial assistance may be available if your prescription co-pay is more than you can afford. Staff will identify available resources, assist in completing and submitting your application, and provide an expected timeline.
  • Staff will coordinate delivery to your provider’s office and contact you when your medication is available for pick up.

How much will my prescription cost?

  • Prescription cost will vary depending on your insurance plan.
  • A final determination of your co-pay cost cannot be made until your claim is processed. Once we have that information, we will contact you to collect payment or begin the financial assistance process where required.
  • If the co-pay or out-of-pocket cost for your prescription is higher than you can afford, we will work to identify co-pay card assistance, patient assistance programs or other support and organizations to help.

How do I refill my prescription?

  • Our staff will contact you during your treatment course and assess the need for refills and coordinate with your provider.
  • If continuation is necessary, we will repeat the filling process and provide you with updated co-pay amounts, collect payment info as needed, and schedule delivery to your provider’s office and let you know when medication is available for pickup.
