Jan Kathleen Stanek, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, FNP-BC, CMSRN is part of Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Advanced Practice Provider team that provides world-class cancer care in a supportive and caring environment.

EDUCATION
Jan Kathleen Stanek, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, FNP-BC, CMSRN, earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Cebu Doctor’s University. She advanced her education by earning a Master of Arts in nursing management from the University of the Visayas and later completed a Master of Science in nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialization from Chamberlain University in Chicago.

EXPERIENCE
Jan is a nurse practitioner at Comprehensive Cancer Centers at the Henderson – Siena treatment center where she helps manage the care and treatment plans for patients with cancer and blood disorders. She is certified as a family nurse practitioner and advanced practice registered nurse with additional certifications in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.

Prior to joining Comprehensive, Jan gained extensive experience across the U.S. in diverse roles, including medical-surgical nurse, intermediate care nurse, intensive care nurse, lead clinical care coordinator and interventional radiology nurse. She has served at reputable healthcare institutions such as Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic. During the pandemic, Jan worked diligently in the Intensive Care Unit, providing critical care and support to patients during unprecedented times.

PERSONAL
Jan was born and raised in Cebu, Philippines. Driven by her passion for nursing, she moved to Chicago to advance her career. In Chicago, she also met her husband, beginning a new chapter in both her personal and professional life. Outside of work, Jan cherishes time with friends and family. She has a deep love for travel, enjoys exploring new cuisines and delights in discovering hidden restaurant gems around the world. In her downtime, Jan indulges in her love of reading, always eager to learn new ideas and perspectives.

PATIENT PHILOSOPHY
As a nurse practitioner, my commitment is to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that respects each individual’s unique needs and values. My decision to pursue a career in oncology stems from a personal experience of the profound impact a provider can have on patients and their families. I am driven by a desire to return the favor and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I care for. Every patient deserves access to the highest standard of care, grounded by the latest evidence-based practices. Building strong, trusting relationships with patients and their families is essential, and being part of their journey is a genuine privilege. My goal is to support each person with empathy, respect and dedication, ensuring they feel valued and understood throughout their healthcare journey.
