Andrew M. Cohen, MD

Andrew M. Cohen, MD, is part of Comprehensive Cancer’s radiation oncology team that provides world-class cancer care in a supportive and caring environment. Additionally, Dr. Curtis currently serves as Comprehensive’s Practice President.

EDUCATION
Andrew M. Cohen, MD, attended Brandeis University in Waltham, MA for his undergraduate studies. In May 1984, he graduated with departmental honors in chemistry. Dr. Cohen received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University in 1988. He completed his internship in 1989 at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Miami where he was Chief Resident.

AREAS OF SPECIAL INTEREST
Prostate cancer brachytherapy and radiosurgery, breast, gastrointestinal and lung malignancies.

EXPERIENCE
Dr. Cohen is a radiation oncologist and current president of Comprehensive Cancer Centers. He joined Nevada Radiation Oncology Centers in 1997, which later became Comprehensive Cancer Centers in 2002. He currently serves on the faculty of the UNLV School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor and was previously an Adjunct Assistant Professor Oncology/Radiation at Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Cohen is certified to use CyberKnife® for stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy and was the first physician to use this technology for the treatment of prostate cancer in Southern Nevada.

He is also the first physician in the state of Nevada to use and be certified in the use of SpaceOAR, an injected hydrogel for rectal protection in the treatment of prostate cancer with radiosurgery, brachytherapy or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).

He initiated the prostate brachytherapy programs at Summerlin Hospital, Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center and Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center. In 2004, Dr. Cohen started the first IMRT program in the state of Nevada.

Previously, in Florida, he served as Medical Director of Treasure Coast Radiation Oncology Center in Port St. Lucie and was in private practice in West Palm Beach.

Dr. Cohen has been recognized as Top Doctor by Castle Connolly, VEGAS INC Health Care Quarterly, Vegas Seven and Desert Companion. He is consistently recognized by The American Registry as one of America’s Most Honored Professionals.

PERSONAL
Dr. Cohen enjoys spending time with his family, attending his children’s activities and traveling.
