Ammar M. Yousif, M.D.

Ammar M. Yousif, M.D. is part of Comprehensive Cancer Centers’ board certified and award-winning medical oncologist team that provides world-class cancer care in a supportive and caring environment.

EDUCATION
Dr. Ammar Yousif received his medical degree from the Baghdad University College of Medicine. After finishing his residency from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and internship in internal medicine at University of Nevada School of Medicine, Dr. Yousif completed his hematology and oncology fellowship at the University of Arizona.

EXPERIENCE
Dr. Yousif is a medical oncologist and hematologist at Comprehensive Cancer Centers. Previously, Dr. Yousif worked as a hematologist and oncologist at The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovations since 2021. He was a research assistant at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where he co-authored peer reviewed journal articles, co-authored a peer reviewed book chapter and participated in several post presentations.

PERSONAL
Outside of work, Dr. Yousif prioritizes spending quality time with his family and dogs. He enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures, which always broadens his perspective. He also enjoys watching sports, with a particular interest in soccer. Additionally, Dr. Yousif is fluent in Arabic.

PATIENT PHILOSOPHY
In his approach to treating cancer patients, Dr. Yousif believes in providing care that is not only scientifically grounded but also compassionate and patient centered. Cancer treatment can be an incredibly challenging and emotional journey, and he strives to create an environment where patients feel heard, supported, and involved in their care decisions. Dr. Yousif recognizes the unique nature of each patient’s experience and makes it a priority to offer personalized treatment plans that consider both the medical and emotional aspects of their well-being.

Dr. Yousif views the doctor-patient relationship as a partnership, where open communication, empathy, and trust are fundamental. He aims to provide clear, honest, and thoughtful explanations about diagnosis, treatment options, and potential outcomes, empowering patients to make informed decisions.
