Don’t Skip The Doctor During COVID-19

COVID-19 has brought about many challenges in daily life. One of the most significant comes from the concern of needing to get medical care not related to the virus. The team at Comprehensive Cancer Centers urges people to remain very mindful of their personal health and always get care when it’s needed.

Just like many other health care providers, Comprehensive Cancer Centers has evolved its patient care efforts to ensure patients are in an environment that’s as safe as possible. Our medical team’s priority is to provide needed care, while protecting the safety of our patients and our staff.

What we don’t want to happen is for signs and symptoms of cancer to go undiagnosed or untreated. We do not want to see patients with late stage cancers on the other side of this pandemic. Cancer is serious and can be curable if caught early. We encourage everyone to continue taking care of yourself during this time.

Patients can be assured that our practice is open, administering treatment to patients, with additional screening and other safety precautions in place. Our goal is to limit exposure risk by only allowing people inside our locations who are essential to our operations – primarily patients, one caregiver, and our clinical and support staff. In these clearly unprecedented times, changes to our operations include:

Fewer People

Comprehensive is limiting patients to one caregiver or guest for all exam room appointments. We ask that you leave all children under the age of 16 at home at this time. No caregivers or guests are permitted in the infusion or radiation areas.

Entrance Screening

Patients are greeted by Comprehensive staff who conduct a pre-entry screening by asking patients and their visitor a brief series of questions. This is to make sure patients are feeling well and do not present symptoms of a possible case of the virus including, but not limited to fever, cough or cough with flu-like symptoms. We also want to ensure those who have recently  travelled to high-risk areas or who’ve had exposure to someone with a confirmed diagnosis reschedule their appointments.

Employee and Staff Screenings

All Comprehensive Cancer Centers’ physicians and staff are screened before entering  our clinics or offices. Screening protocols mirror those of patients and  is mandatory that all employees feeling generally unwell stay home from work. All employees are required to wear a mask.

Telemedicine

Comprehensive is now offering telemedicine consultations for patients, new and existing. Our commitment to providing high quality cancer care includes adapting and innovating to meet your needs, including in the current challenging environment. For clinically appropriate appointments, such as some new patients, post-treatment follow-up visits, and managing cancer treatment side effects, telemedicine offers convenience and safety – and the opportunity to initiate and continue effective care.

Constant Updates to Policies and Procedures – Comprehensive Cancer Centers is continually monitoring, evaluating, and updating our response to the outbreak. The medical team is closely following recommendations from the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD), World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other healthcare agencies. We are taking every precaution to protect the health and well being of our patients and staff.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your treatment center directly and we would be happy to assist in any way that we can.
