ACR Accreditation

Comprehensive Cancer Centers offers the Southern Nevada community, and those outside of our community, access to a full range of treatment options for cancer care. One of these services is radiation oncology (LINK 3), which is an important tool in the treatment of cancer. The practice’s radiation oncology team recently earned an important accreditation for work in this field.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) just awarded a three-year term of accreditation to Comprehensive Cancer Centers’ Radiation Oncology Division. Comprehensive has received the accreditation for eight consecutive three-year terms. The most recent renewal extends the division’s accreditation through December 31, 2024.

The ACR awards accreditation to select facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer review evaluation. Board-certified physicians and medical physicists conduct the evaluations, assessing the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report. The accreditation is the highest standard awarded to radiation oncology practices.

Comprehensive’s Radiation Oncology Division comprises five of its 14 medical offices. The division includes the Northwest Medical Office, located on Peak Drive near MountainView Hospital; the Summerlin Medical Office and Las Vegas CyberKnife® Radiosurgery at Summerlin, located on the Summerlin Hospital campus; the Southwest Medical Office, located on the Southern Hills Hospital campus; the Central Valley Medical Office, located on South Eastern Avenue near Flamingo Road; and the Henderson Medical Office, located on the St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Siena Campus in Henderson.

Radiation Oncology Offered at Comprehensive Cancer Centers

The Comprehensive Cancer Centers radiation oncology team is dedicated to applying every resource and technology, both existing and emerging, to heal our patients. We employ multiple imaging and treatment technologies to tailor each patient’s radiation therapy. Our radiation oncologists commonly use computer assisted tomography (CT scans), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scans) and positron emission tomography (PET scans) to create detailed three-dimensional representations of a tumor and surrounding vital organs.

CyberKnife® Radiosurgery at Comprehensive Cancer Centers

CyberKnife® is a painless, non-invasive cancer surgery alternative that uses computer-operated robotics and image guidance technology to treat hard-to-reach tumors. It tracks and destroys tumors in the body or brain while accounting for the patient’s breathing. With benefits including painless, non-surgical cancer treatment, pin-point surgical accuracy, new hope to patients with inoperable or previously radiated tumors, minimized side effects, all of which can be accomplished in one to five short treatments.
