Raise Awareness, Support Cancer Research: Coaches vs. Cancer
Comprehensive Cancer Centers has been a proud sponsor of MGM Main Event and Coaches vs. Cancer Showcase for several years. Each year, patients and physicians from Comprehensive Cancer Centers are highlighted to raise awareness about the importance of early detection, treatment and cancer research.
MGM Main Event is an 8-team college basketball tournament that features two four-team brackets with each team playing two games. Patients of Comprehensive Cancer Centers are invited to attend the tournament which takes place during the month of November in Las Vegas each year.
Coaches vs. Cancer is an initiative with the National Association of Basketball Coaches to help raise funds for American Cancer Society. Two hundred of Comprehensive Cancer Centers’ patients and their families are invited to attend the game. They are recognized on-court during halftime in a moving ceremony that reinforces the importance of raising money to support early detection, cancer treatment and research. Physicians are also recognized on-court during a timeout in the second half of the game to showcase their tireless efforts in finding new ways to treat cancer and help their patients through their diagnosis.
Several of our patients have been recognized during Coaches vs. Cancer each year. Below are each of those patient spotlights.
