Hydration

Hydration is a therapy to restore the volume and composition of body fluids to normal, with respect to water-electrolyte balance. Fluids and electrolytes, which have been lost as the result of treatment side-effects, are replaced intravenously.

Hydration is performed on an outpatient basis and takes about two hours. Clinically, hydration restores a patient’s body to its normal state of equilibrium. The nurses at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada say that hydration “fluffs up patients” because they feel so much better afterwards.
